Colorado Springs, beyond the Garden

Pikes Peak has five ceremony sites you request from the city, North Cheyenne Cañon rents a pavilion by the day, and the Paint Mines does not allow weddings at all. Here is who manages each place and what they allow, verified on coloradosprings.gov, drivepikespeak.com, elpasoco.com and fs.usda.gov.

Published October 12, 2026 · Rules and fees change. Every claim here links to the office that sets it, and that office wins if we ever disagree.

Pikes Peak

Five highway ceremony sites by request, 15 to 60 people; the summit is not one

City Parks

Pavilion or permit over 50 people, or for chairs, arches and tents

Paint Mines

No weddings; photo permit $100 a day, 10 people at most

Alcohol

Prohibited in Colorado Springs city parks

Garden of the Gods has its own guide. The rest of Colorado Springs belongs to a surprising number of owners: the city, El Paso County, the Forest Service, Manitou Springs and The Broadmoor. Each sets its own rules, and one of the most photographed places near town does not allow ceremonies at all. We checked each manager’s own site on October 12, 2026.

City parks: the rules that apply almost everywhere

The City of Colorado Springs says any city park is available for a wedding ceremony. Its Weddings in Parks page sets the triggers: more than 50 people means renting a pavilion or applying for a Park Special Event Permit, and amplified sound of any kind, even one small speaker, needs a Noise Hardship Permit through the city’s Permit Partner portal. The 2026 pavilion guide adds that tents, generators, vendors or exclusive use of a park also require that permit, and that alcohol is prohibited in city parks by ordinance. Pavilions are booked online, and seasonal restrooms close from October 1 to May 1.

A group under 50 with no chairs, arch or speaker just follows normal park rules. The Office of Special Events answers at 719-385-5940.

North Cheyenne Cañon and Helen Hunt Falls

North Cheyenne Cañon is the city’s mountain canyon, with Helen Hunt Falls up the road. For seated guests, the Mesa pavilion is $150 a day in 2026 and holds 100 people, with seats for about 72.

The park opens at 5 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m. from May through October, 9 p.m. otherwise, with gates locked at closing. Buses, RVs and oversized vehicles are banned on the canyon road, the road may close when the park hits capacity, and fires and smoking are prohibited. There is no cell service in the canyon, so send guests directions ahead. Portable toilets sit at the falls.

Palmer Park and the chapel

Palmer Park has four pavilions in the 2026 guide, three at $150 a day for up to 100 people and Meadows at $100 for up to 50. For walls and a roof, the city rents the American Mothers Chapel at Rock Ledge Ranch for $200 a day: 15 people, 12 seats, parking on Chambers Way only, no restrooms.

Red Rock Canyon Open Space

The city has listed Red Rock Canyon among the TOPS open spaces where events, including weddings, are not allowed because of a conservation easement. The Weddings in Parks page we loaded on October 12, 2026 had been rewritten without that list, so treat Red Rock Canyon as a portrait spot until the Office of Special Events tells you otherwise in writing.

Pikes Peak, America’s Mountain

Most couples picture the 14,115 foot summit. The city, which operates the Pikes Peak Highway, does not offer the summit for ceremonies. It offers five highway sites instead, requested through its wedding form:

SiteMile and elevationGroup limitSeason
Crystal ReservoirMile 6, 9,160 ft60Year round, weather permitting
Interpretive OverlookMile 6.5, 9,160 ft as listed20Year round, weather permitting
Halfway Picnic AreaMile 10, 9,930 ft50Year round, weather permitting
Glen CoveMile 13, 11,440 ft60Year round, weather permitting
Elk ParkMile 14, 11,800 ft15July to December, best July to September

Ceremony hours run 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in summer and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. otherwise, so sunrise vows are out. The form blocks the fourth week of June and the first week of July. Every vehicle needs a parking permit, Elk Park takes four vehicles at most, and 60 extra spaces at the mile 7 Pit Area rent for $250. Arches, chairs, aisle runners, fresh petals and leashed pets are allowed. Drones, confetti, rice, smoke bombs, glassware, decorations hung from trees and open flames are not. No ceremony fee is published, so ask when you apply at PikesPeakWeddings.SMB@coloradosprings.gov.

From the Friday before Memorial Day through September 30, every car going above mile 7 also needs a $2 timed entry reservation plus admission for each person, with a one hour arrival window at the Gateway. Call 719-385-7325 for road conditions the morning of.

Paint Mines Interpretive Park

El Paso County’s permit sheet for the Paint Mines near Calhan is blunt: the county does not allow weddings. Any photo shoot, commercial or amateur, needs a Special Facility Use Permit: $100 a day, 10 people at most, handheld props only, plus insurance or signed waivers. Apply at least 10 days ahead at 719-520-7529. Climbing, standing or sitting on the formations is prohibited, as is entering them, and drones and pets are banned.

Seven Falls

Seven Falls is privately operated by The Broadmoor, so none of the public rules above apply. Contact Seven Falls directly.

Manitou Springs

Manitou Springs rents its parks for private gatherings through a Park Rental Private Event Application. The form says alcohol is not allowed at private park events and the city may require liability insurance. Call City Hall at 719-685-5481.

Pike National Forest

The forest around the peak is the Pike National Forest, managed by the Pikes Peak Ranger District in Colorado Springs, 719-636-1602. Federal rules call 75 or more people group use, which needs a permit, and the forest says permits may be required for weddings and photography, so call before planning props or a crowd. Our national forest elopement guide explains the framework.

Common questions

Can you get married on the summit of Pikes Peak?

The city’s wedding program stops at Elk Park, mile 14. You can still drive up afterward for portraits like any visitor.

Do you need a permit to elope in Colorado Springs?

Not in most city parks for fewer than 50 people with no chairs, arches, tents or speakers. Pikes Peak sites need a request.

Can we have champagne at a park ceremony?

Not in Colorado Springs or Manitou Springs parks. Save the toast for a venue.

Where do we get the marriage license?

From the El Paso County clerk; see our El Paso County marriage license guide. Colorado also allows self solemnization.
