Where listings come from

Most listings start from information a business has already made public: its own website and its Google Business Profile, which we receive through a data provider called DataForSEO. That gives us the name, category, location, phone number, website, Google rating, review count and a public photo. We include businesses that serve couples eloping or having a small wedding in Colorado, and we leave out businesses that are closed or only serve large events.

We use AI tools to help sort businesses into categories and regions and to draft short descriptions from that public information. Drafts are checked against the business's own website before they are published, and they are written to describe, not to praise. Mistakes still happen, which is why every listing can be claimed and corrected.

Photos are stored on our own servers rather than loaded from Google, and vendors can replace them with their own.

Claim and correct

Any business can claim its listing for free. Once claimed, the business can update its description, phone number, website and photos, and receive inquiries from couples. A business that does not want to be listed can ask us to remove it and we do so within one business day. Before we merge two listings that look like duplicates, we check the sources to confirm they really are the same business.

Ratings

Star ratings and review counts are Google's, refreshed weekly from Google Maps data. We do not collect our own reviews, and we do not edit, remove or hide ratings for anyone, including Featured vendors. A rating reflects what Google showed at the last refresh, so it may lag Google by a few days.

Featured placement is paid and always labeled

Featured is how this site makes money. Vendors pay $40 a month to appear near the top of their category and region pages. During our launch we also feature a rotating selection of vendors at no charge, chosen each week from well reviewed listings across categories and regions; these vendors did not pay, and paid Featured vendors always appear ahead of them. Every Featured listing, paid or not, carries a visible Featured label. Featured vendors are not reviewed or endorsed by us, cannot change their ratings, and cannot pay to remove or push down another business. There are at most 3 Featured slots per category in each region. Free listings are ordered by their Google rating and number of reviews.

We do not accept payment for guides, articles or mentions in them. When a guide mentions a vendor, it is because the vendor is relevant to that place, not because they paid.

Guides and permit pages

Our guides and permit pages are researched from official sources such as county clerks, the National Park Service, the US Forest Service, Colorado Parks and Wildlife and city open space programs, and they link to those sources. AI tools help with research and drafting, and every page is checked against the official source before it is published and again when we learn that a rule has changed. Rules and fees change, so the official agency always has the final word.

How to report an error

If something is wrong on a listing, guide or permit page, send the page address and what needs fixing through the contact page. If you own the business, the fastest fix is to claim your listing from its page. We correct confirmed factual errors promptly, usually within two business days.
