Denver is the practical elopement: a license downtown in the morning, a red rock park or a foothills meadow by lunch, and dinner without a mountain pass between you and the airport. The photographers we list here are based in Denver, its suburbs and the foothill towns, so most can reach Red Rocks, Golden or Evergreen inside an hour.
The foothills have three main landlords, and each treats photographers differently. Denver treats a private ceremony in any Denver park, including Red Rocks Park and Lookout Mountain, as a special occasion that needs a permit applied for at least 30 days ahead. Jefferson County Open Space, which runs Mount Falcon, issues its own commercial photography and officiant permits. State parks such as Staunton and Golden Gate Canyon use a special activity agreement. Ask a photographer which of those they hold and which sites they shoot most.
Light matters too. Red Rocks faces east, so the monoliths glow at sunrise; the Walker ruins on Mount Falcon catch sunset with the plains turning purple below; Guanella Pass is a sunrise site before the wind and storms arrive. September is the sweet spot, with aspens turning on the pass in the last two weeks of the month.
